IMEC tower

This 17-storey tower houses offices and a conference room for Imec in Leuven. The building’s unique architectural appearance is a consequence of the lower floors being smaller than the upper floors. In addition, the building rests solely on the concrete walls of the central core; the facade does not contain any load-bearing columns.

Gamaco was commissioned by JVA, MACOBO, to design and draw up the plans for the tower’s core and all the floors.

The floors are made of lightweight post-tensioned concrete, embedded into the concrete core. The cantilevers at the corners of the building are up to  10 m long.
